An elopement in San Sebastian is always a unique experience. This city in the north of Spain always manages to surprise me.
On this occasion I went to San Sebastian to do a couple photography session for Angela and Greg, an American couple who wanted to get married in an elopement in San Sebastian.
They got married a day before I arrived in an intimate ceremony with only the two of them. And then, on the following day, I accompanied them on a stroll around some of the most beautiful places in San Sebastian to capture them in their favourite places of the city. You can see the result in the photographs below.
For their first pictures as husband and wife, the bride chose a long white dress with a little tail and a mini feather jacket that gave her outfit a very romantic touch, 1920s type. The groom did not fall short with his look: a dark suit, a light blue tie and a hat that gave his outfit a super cool touch.
Once they were ready in their wedding outfits we started our walk around San Sebastian. The bride and groom had a very clear idea of what they wanted. San Sebastian is in fact a city that attracts many couples. They choose San Sebastian for their destination wedding photo session because it is an incredible city in terms of architecture and gastronomy so it’s an ideal place for a romantic photo shoot of this kind.
The bride and groom wanted me to take their picture in several of the most representative places in San Sebastian, such as the Plaza de la Constitución, the church of San Vicente and the viewpoint at mount Urgil Kalea.
It rained a bit during our walk. We took advantage of this moment by making a quick stop for coffee at a typical Basque tavern.
Once we finished with their newlyweds pictures around San Sebastian, we headed to the famous restaurant Arzak, where the couple had a reservation to eat that day. That was a marvellous choice. Arzak is not only an emblematic place that has been three times awarded with a Michelin star, it is also an amazing gastronomic experience that no doubt, was the perfect finishing touch for this day.
If San Sebastian is already a gastronomic and cultural experience in itself, with the visit to Arzak, the experience infinitely better. And in this particular case, the experience was great for both, the newly weds and us, as not only they allowed us to take some beautiful photos of the bride and groom in the restaurant, but we were lucky enough to take some photos inside the famous Arzak kitchen and in the restaurant’s cellar. I want to warmly thank all the Arzak team that welcomed us and treated us so well. It’s something I will never forget.
