On this occasion, I want to show you this very special engagement: the wedding of Marianne and Fabien in Biarritz. It was a very particular celebration, different from the weddings I am used to do, as they decided to celebrate two different weddings on the same day: a civil marriage ceremony and a religious wedding ceremony.
The day started early, with Marianne going to the hairdresser Dessange where she got her hair and make up done. After that, we went to her parents house, a typical vasque villa with its wooden and stone structure and a well maintained garden.
The house was a great scenery for the wedding photographic report, as it was filled with significant details. When the bride was dressed and ready we went to the Biarritz town hall (Hotel de Ville), where the civil marriage ceremony was held. The ceremony was replete with emotive moments, you could see guests were very moved.
Marianne changed her outfit for the religious ceremony. We visit the hairdresser again so she could loose her hair and wear the veil. These were very funny moments for her, as it was a very particular one, a veil placed as a cap and topped with an original and distinctive bride flower headdress. It took some time before Marianne and the hairdresser decided it was looking perfect, I remember. After that, Marianne put on her Prada shoes that combined perfectly with her vintage wedding dress, both bought in the same boutique, where they also did some last-minute adjustments.
When Marianne arrived to the impressive Sainte Eugénie church, she looked so happy on her father’s arm. The maids of honour were wearing orange and each of them had a bouquet matching the dress, a fresh and unconventional look. The groom closest friends` were all wearing a bow tie and a customized ornament on the lapel of his jacket.
The ceremony at Sainte Eugénie was very moving, there was a typical vasque choir and after the rings exchange, they gave an offering to the Virgin, certainly a very meaningful gesture for them.
We chose the surroundings of the church to do part of the shooting for the wedding pictures, as it was an absolutely priviliged location: on the seafront and with a fishing harbor at our feet. Then we moved around to take more wedding pictures in the harbor with the fishermen’s houses in the background resulting in a very navy style photographs, filled with details of the area.
When we finished with this, we move towards Inharria Ferme Saint -Pee -sur- Nivelle, where the bride and groom arrived in a vintage American car, a Buick Eight. The place they chosed for the cocktail and the dinner was spectacular: green, rustic and with a typical vintage style décor.
The couple chose Nabie Dit Oui, an specialized set designer, which filled all the spaces with customised and original details. The first surprise came with Marianne´s arrival, that was welcomed by two ponies dressed as unicorns, given the passion of the bride for horses. As you can see in the pictures, she was thrilled!
The cocktail took place outdoors, and during the canapes bride and groom took the opportunity to take some funny pictures with their friends. By this time , Marianne had changed the veil for a very showy flower crown. Fabien was no less, and he changed his tie for a quite big and smart bow tie. These photo shoot with their friends was very funny, they even got animal masks that they used to give an original twist to the wedding pictures. We end up the taking some pictures inside a shed nearby.
A cooking show live was performed at the wedding, for the delight of the guests and a very cheerful DJ, Maddog Moreti , put the festive touch to the moment.
The venue was laid out with long tables where all the guests were sitting together. Each guest had his cutlery and a personalized gift. In the dance floor, there was a large heart which was lit , definitely one of the most striking details of this vintage wedding. The chair where the bride was sat was decorated with a metallic heart on one of the sides and the dance floor had strings crossing the whole courtyard from one side to another, giving the illumination a different touch. The centerpieces were made of natural flowers, as you can see all tailored for this rustic and very personal wedding.
Marianne ‘s father made a very emotional speech that all the guests loved and especially the happy couple .
After the dinner, the DJj delighted the audience with a song to the bride and groom and then they cut the cake. Then, as usual, they opened the dance, which was anything but traditional, as the couple began dancing a romantic song to end up doing a performance, a complete surprise that the guests really enjoyed.
Drinks and funny moments followed for the rest of the night in a wedding filled with details and great moments. Photographing this wedding in Biarritz was a fantastic opportunity for me. I had a great time, both personally and professionally. I would like to highlight how well I was treated by this amazing couple and their relatives. It was a pleasure to work in this wedding in France.
