Wedding at a Hotel Boutique, have you ever heard of it? Well, this has been my last adventure, Steph & Brad´s wedding in Girona, a lovely Canadian couple that like many couples decided to have a destination wedding and get married in a a different and exotic destination for them, the Costa Brava.
To make sure that the ceremony was unforgettable they choose this beautiful Boutique Hotel called Teatre in Regencos (Girona), a hotel with amazing landscape and incredible views. Bride and groom went for an intimate but chic wedding, where no detail was lacking, like chalkboards indications, flower petals scattered on the grass or wild fruits jam jars.
The wedding preparations took place in the hotel: the groom was wearing a suit, suspenders and a tie matching his Groomsmen, the bride wore a beautiful Pronovias´ dress. The bridesmaids, in true American style all wore the same, a pale pink dress.
Once everyone was ready, Brad, the bridesmaid and the groomsmen, all together, played a series of typical Chinese games, where men had to sing, do yoga poses and even guess which of the lipstick marks on a card was from the Bride. It was all very fun and certainly original.
Just before the ceremony, bride and groom made a “First Look”, a very romantic tradition, in which they talk to each other for the last time before the wedding. Both situated in opposites sides of a door, so they can´t see each other as you know, seeing the bride before the ceremony is bad luck. Here Steph and Brad spoke, touched and even kissed without seeing each other to calm their nerves before the big moment. It was very special and touching.
The wedding ceremony was intimate and very moving, enlivened by the music of a string quartet, so the couple exchanged vows surrounded by their family and closest friends.
After the ceremony, the guests went for a scenic tour of the area and we headed to Pals, a gorgeous little town in Girona with medieval touches, to shoot the wedding photos of the couple and then we did some more around the hotel.
When we came back the cocktail started with a series of fun games in the garden to the delight of all the guests. The typical Mediterranean food, the mojitos and the live music of a Jazz group made the cocktail a very pleasant time for all guests.
Once the cocktail was finished, we returned to the Teatre hotel for the dinner party, that was very exciting thanks to the emotional speeches and ended with the cutting of the nupcial cake that was the “icing of the cake” to this awesome wedding in Girona.
I want to thank my friend Mireia Cordomí for asking me to accompany her to this very special wedding. As a wedding photographer in Malaga and Marbella, it is always a pleasure to travel to the north of Spain where the landscapes and weather conditions are so different to what I am used to, to work as a wedding photographer. And I especially appreciated when the celebration places are as special as this Boutique Hotel in the Costa Brava.
