It is not the first time I have worked as Wedding Photographer in a Korean wedding. Not long ago I worked at a Korean wedding in Los Angeles, at Jessica and Johnny’s wedding and I thoroughly enjoyed. Now, reaally happy with the experience, I set out to repeat, this time in a Korean Wedding in Seoul.
Used to my work as a wedding photographer in Malaga and Europe, this was certainly a unique experience.
Jiyeon (from Korea) and Vianney (from France) met in Seoul where they now live together. Just a few months ago they decided to get marry as follows: first with a wedding in Korea, the bride´s country, and then next year with a wedding in France.
The couple got ready in a beauty salon in downtown Seoul, the Mercy Beauty House Ardor. Once ready, we headed to the exclusive Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul for this luxurious wedding and a great feast. This wasn’t a wedding as we are used to see in Spain at all.
First they held a reception for the guests who came from all over the world: China, France, Japan, Australia, … it was certainly a very international and elegant wedding (and peculiar.)
The wedding hall was decorated with a very characteristic motif of Korea: the Cherry Blossom, because just now was that season, when the trees bloom and it’s a real hallmark at this time of the year. To liven up the evening they counted with live music from the hand of a pianist and a group of string.
This wedding besides being an international and multicultural wedding was certainly unique and different from anything I’ve done. First a ceremony for all the guests was held, in which the couple have to cross a footbridge to reach the place where they would say “I do”. The bride came of course accompanied by her father, Vianney was very excited waiting for her. They both very moved, read the vows and exchanged rings, followed by two musical performances and the speeches by the parents of the bride and groom.
The ceremony ended with the guests throwing rose petals at the exit of the couple. After the dinner, they cut the cake and made a toast with all the guests. Once the ceremony was over, the couple change into their Korean costumes and only with their families and closest friends held their Korean wedding, which did not lack the main symbols of this kind of ritual.
To finish this international wedding, the guests went party European style to a place that they have booked for the occasion.
As you can see there was no lack of detail in this destination wedding in Korea. It has been an amazing experience for me: being able to accompany them for a week, living another culture and being witness of their link. I will always be grateful for his closeness and for how they made me feel like another wedding guest.
I hope you enjoyed this international wedding shooting! Do not hesitate to contact me if you need a wedding photographer in Malaga, Marbella or anywhere else in the world.
